Winter Scenes – The First Noel

Hi again!  Design Team Time for Facebook’s Case-ing Tuesday (#554).  Where we select cards from the Catalogs and remake them as we are inspired.  Today’s inspiration can be found on the front cover of the Jan – Apr Mini Catalog.

My design was influenced by: Farm Quest Country Christmas (#29) for a rural winter scene and Jingle Belles (#2605) to add a musical element to the holiday card.

Here is the result:

WINTER SCENES – CY554 – FQCCCB29 – JB2605

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Beige cardstock.
  • Accent Mat #1: (5¼” x 4”) Mossy Meadow cardstock.
  • Accent Mat #2: (5⅛” x 3⅞”) Balmy Blue cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5½” x 3¾”) Digital Print – The First Noel – Music Sheet.
    • Using a Blending Brush, Crumb Cake ink was added to the edges for a bit more antiquing.
  • Square Panels: (3” x 6”) Blue Snowy / Neutral Tree (front and back) patterned piece of paper from the retired One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper pack die-cut with the (2⅜” x 2⅜”) Stitched Square die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
    • Crumb Cake ink was also added to the edges of the Neutral Tree Square with the Blending Brush.
  • Square Frame: (2¼” x 2¼”) Early Espresso cardstock scrap die-cut with both the (1⅞” x 1⅞”) and (1½” x 1½”) Stitched Square dies, also from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
  • Circle: (2” x 2”) retired Naturals Ivory cardstock scrap from my bin.
    • The Deer & Mountain Scene image from the Winter Scenes stamp set, an On-Line Exclusive product, was stamped with Early Espresso ink and colored with Watercolor Pencils.  Colors chosen: Mountain & Water – retired Bermuda Bay and Basic White; Background Trees – Garden Green and Old Olive; and Pine Trees – Old Olive.
    • The Scene was then die-cut with the (1¾”) Stitched Circle die, again from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
  • While the Watercolor Pencils were out, Bermuda Bay coloring was added to the Lettering – The First Noel and Old Olive coloring was added to the Trees on the Music Sheet.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Circle Scene was popped up with Dimensionals and a few retired Rustic Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots were added.

I like the quiet soft coloring of this holiday card.  I hope you do, too!

Thank you SO much for popping by ~ I hope you enjoyed your time here and I wish you a fantastic day!
