Fragrant Layers – Happy Birthday

Welcome back!  I have a pretty birthday card for you today…

Celebrating Double D (#260107) and their 10^th Anniversary in the blog world.

My design was influenced by: Creative Colour (#223), colors which were similar to those in the Double D inspiration photos and choosing the Facebook Global Design Project (#530) Sketch for a regular A2 card size.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Coastal Cabana cardstock.
• Background Panel: (7” x 5”) Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.
  • This background is the result of a “mop-up” from a previous project, kept aside until the right thing came along.  The colors used: Pretty in Pink, Highland Heather, Coastal Cabana and Berry Burst Classic Ink Refills.  The Watercolor Paper was trimmed to (5¼” x 4”).
• Rectangle Panel: (2¼” x 3¾”) Vellum Specialty Paper dry-embossed with the Beautiful Pattern 3D Embossing Folder, an On-Line Exclusive product.
• Shapes – Flowers: Pretty in Pink, Highland Heather and Basic White cardstock scraps die-cut with the Flower die from the Fragrant Layers Dies set, also an On-Line Exclusive product.
• Sentiment Label: (3½” x ⅞”) Coastal Cabana cardstock scrap.
  • The sentiment, Happy Birthday, from the recently retired Charming Day stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Chosen for the pretty font.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch. The Floral die-cuts were popped up with Dimensionals and several White retired Classic Matte Dots were added to complete the card.

A fresh set of colors for a lovely birthday card.
