Nature’s Beauty – It’s Your Day

Welcome back!  I have a masculine winter birthday card for you today…

Playing with the Facebook’s Global Design Project (#529) Color challenge.

Design choices were influenced by: Four Seasons (#2601) Winter Animal Inspiration Board; Farm Quest (#79) Snowy Mountains; Seize The Birthday (#318) Snowflake Background; and sharing with Colorful Options (#2601) Blue & White Winter Inspiration Board.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Night of Navy cardstock.
• Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Smoky Slate cardstock dry-embossed with the retired Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder.
• Accent Mat: (3⅛” x 3⅛”) Night of Navy cardstock.
• Focal Panel: (4” x 4”) Basic White cardstock.
  • The Fox image from the retired Nature’s Beauty stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and again onto a Post-It-Note.
  • The Post-It-Note image was fussy-cut with Paper Snips and used as a Mask.
  • With the Mask in place, several stamps from the retired Waterfront stamp set were used to create the scene.  Stamps / Colors: Single Strip image with Balmy Blue ink for foreground snow and background sky stamped with 2^nd and 3^rd Generation inks (stamped off once and twice); Mountain image with Azure Afternoon ink with 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd Generation inks; and Tree image with Night of Navy ink 2^nd Generation inks.
  • The Mask was removed, and the Fox was colored with the Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends Marker for a little shading.
  • Using my Fine-Tipped Liquid Gel Pen, I added more details to the ground around the Fox and the bottoms of the Trees.
  • The Panel was then trimmed to (3” x 3”).
• Sentiment Banner: Night of Navy cardstock scrap.
• The sentiment, It’s Your Day!, from the Fragrant Layers stamp set, an On-Line Exclusive product, was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder and then die-cut with the (2¾” x ⅝”) Stitched Banner die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base and the Sentiment was popped up with Dimensionals.
