Joyful Tidings – Nests of Winter

Welcome back!  A brand-new week and we are off to a flying start.

The challenges: Little Red Wagon (#834) with a Let’s Fly theme and choosing to CASE (copy and selectively edit) Cordula De’s card for the Facebook’s Global Design Project (#524) for the general layout.

Picking up lines from the current Tic Tac Toe (#284) Board: Vertical Left (Embellishment, Gold and Navy) yet the Diagonal (Navy, FREE, and Holiday Sentiment) works too, picking Die-Cuts for the free space.  I have also added a golden heart for Heart’s Quest (#79).

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Night of Navy cardstock.
• Right Side Panel: (2¾” x 5¼”) Gold and White Plaid patterned piece of paper from the Regal Distressed Patterns Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Using the small Heart die from the retired Spring Corners Dies set, a Heart was die-cut in the lower right corner and back-filled with a scrap of Gold Foil.
• Background Panel: (2½” x 3¾”) Basic White cardstock die-cut with the (2¼” x 3½”) Stitched Rectangle die from the retired Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies set and then dry-embossed with the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder.
• Sentiment Banner: Basic White cardstock scrap.
  • The sentiment, Tidings of Joy this Christmas season, from the Joyful Tidings stamp set was stamped with Night of Navy ink and then die-cut with the (2⅛” x ⅞”) Stitched Banner die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
• Focal Image – Bird: Multiple Birds patterned piece of paper from the Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper pack.
  • The Blue Bird and additional Pine Branches were fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble a version of Cordula’s layout.  The Bird was popped up with Dimensionals and from the retired 2023/2025 In-Color Dots package, a Boho Blue and a Pebbled Path gem was added to complete the card.

A sweet little holiday card.
