Extraordinary Flora – With Love

Welcome back!  Hoping you are having a wonderful Friday.

Play time!  The challenges: Double Trouble (#199) and the 3-2-1 game (Layers, Images, Aperture) with a twist to add an image to the Aperture Opening and use the Try a Sketch on Tuesday (#678) layout.

Additionally, I was influenced by Stampin’ Up! Only (#384) for the colors and Double D (#090325) to add a Musical element.

Here is the result:

EXTRAORDINARY FLORA – DT199 – TSOT678 – SUOC384 – DD090325

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Smoky Slate cardstock.
  • Background Panel – Layer #2: (4” x 5¼”) Black & White Swirl patterned piece of paper from the retired Merry Musical Specialty Designer Series Paper.
    • Using the (2⅛”) Stitched Circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set, an Aperture was die-cut.
  • Image #1 – Floral Medallion – Layer #1: (2¾” x 3”) Black, White & Smoky Slate Medallions piece of patterned paper from the retired Night & Day Designer Series Paper was colored with the Light Strawberry Slush Stampin’ Blends Marker and using a Blending Brush, Timid Tiger ink was added on top.
    • The Medallion was fitted under the aperture.
  • Aperture Frame – Layer #3: (3” x 3”’) Basic White cardstock die-cut with both the (2⅛”) and (2½”) Stitched Circle dies, from the same Dies set.
    • Using another Blending Brush, Smoky Slate ink was added to the Frame, toning down the brightness of the white color.
  • Image #2 – Musical Banner – Layer #4: (2½” x 1”) Musical Notes / Sheet Music patterned piece of paper, again from the Merry Musical Specialty Designer Series Paper pack, brushed with Smoky Slate ink using the Blending Brush, toning down the brightness.
    • The Banner was trimmed to (2” x ⅞”) and hand-flagged with Paper Snips.
    • The sentiment, With Love, from the Extraordinary Flora stamp set, was stamped with Strawberry Slush ink.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch, and the Sentiment Banner was popped up with Dimensionals.

  3. Some wonderful choices of patterned paper here and I really like how you used it and your overall design. The little banner with the addition of the sentiment is clever and makes a statement of its own. Thanks for joining us at Double Trouble, Johanna DT

  6. You are so good at combining numerous challenges into a beautiful card creation! All of the elements complement each other so nicely, and I enjoy learning from your tips like using gray ink to “tone down” the white. Thank you for joining us a Double Trouble, and by the way, bear claws are also my favorite!
