Let It Ride – Birthday Fun

Welcome back!  A brand-new week.  Happy Monday.

Having a little fun with a few themes and a smash-up of several favorite stamp sets to create the scene.

AAA Birthday (#76) has a Sports theme, and I selected Horse Riding.  It is off to the Riding Ranch to celebrate with Farm Quest (#74) and their Ranch theme.

Here is the result:

LET IT RIDE – GRACE’ GARDEN – COUNRTY ROAD – AAABCB76 – FQCB74

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Beige cardstock.
  • Accent Mat: (4” x 5¼”) Shaded Spruce cardstock.
  • Focal Panel: (3⅞” x 5⅛”) Basic Beige cardstock.
    • The Pasture Horses image from the retired Let It Ride stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • This image was stamped again, onto a Post-It-Note and fussy cut with Paper Snips to act as a Mask.
    • With the Mask in place, the Tree image, from the same stamp set was stamped with Shade Spruce ink.
    • The Horses were colored with the Light Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blends Marker, and the Grass Line was extended with the Light Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blend Marker and additional Grass details were added with the Black Journaling Pen.
    • The Barn Top Weathervane from the retired Country Road stamp set was stamped with Basic Gray ink and the highlights were added with the Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends Marker.
    • With trimmed Post-It-Note scraps, the body of the Weathervane Horse was masked and the Double Fence Post image from the retired Grace’s Garden stamp set was stamped multiple times to create a complete Fence Line with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • Using the Journaling Pen, the Fence Posts were linked by drawing additional Cross Boards as well as additional Grass Tufts.
    • Shading was added to the Fence with the Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends Marker, and the Grass was colored with more of the Shaded Spruce.
    • The sentiments, Happy Birthday, from the Country Roads stamp set and Take Life by the Reins, from the Let It Ride stamp set were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • Using a Blending Brush, Shaded Spruce ink was lightly added to complete the scene.

All elements were adhered to the card base, keeping the card simple.  Just stamps, ink and paper.

What a fun way to celebrate your birthday!

  1. What a great idea to smash these 2 themes into 1 card!!! You keep such great track of current themes and do so well to merge and build unique cards! Bravo!!! Thanks for getting this in before the deadline! For FQCB, Becca
