Winged Whimsy – Happy Birthday

Design Time: Facebook Case-ing Tuesday (#514) Sketch. Today?  The card can be found on page 36 of the May 2025 – Apr 2026 Annual Catalog.

Influences: Time Out (#289) Winged Thing – a sweet little dragon; Addicted to Stamps & More (#493) Birthday; and Color Dare (#652) with a bright palette perfect for fantasy.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
• Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Flirty Flamingo Watercolor Wash patterned piece of paper from the retired Hello, Irresistible Designer Series Paper pack.
  • The sentiment, Happy Birthday, from The Right Words stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
• Accent Rectangle: (4¼” x 1⅝”) Lemon Lime Twist Ombre patterned piece of paper from the Full of Life Designer Series Paper pack, an On-Line Exclusive product.
• Accent Strip: (4¼” x ½”) Basic Black cardstock scrap.
• Shape – Circle: (3” x 3”) Timid Tiger Splatter patterned piece of paper from the 2025/2027 In-Color Collection Designer Series Paper pack die-cut with the (2½”) Stitched Circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
• Focal Image – Dragon: (3” x 3”) Basic White cardstock.
  • The Winged Dragon image from the Inspiration Squad stamp set, also an On-Line Exclusive product, was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Dragon Body – Light and Dark Lemon Lime Twist; Horns, Wings, and Under Body – Alternating Light Flirty Flamingo and Timid Tiger.
  • The Dragon was then fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Little Dragon was popped up with Dimensionals.

What a nice colorful birthday card for a little person…
