Lovely as a Tree – Best Day Ever

A few days off and I feel energized.  Welcome back!

Today I am combining a few challenges with similar themes: Stampin’ Up! Only (#373) with a Neutral Palette in their inspiration photo; Inspire Create (#190) looking for a Monochrome Color Scheme; Festive Friday (#182) celebrating Earth Day; and Time Out (#286) with a list of complimentary options.

Bringing it all together, I selected the Retro Rubber (#252) Sketch and a few of my favorite retired stamp sets.

Here is the result:

LOVELY AS A TREE – FLIRTY FLOWERS – GORGEOUS GRUNGE – RRCB252 – FF0182 – TOC286 – SUOC373 – ICC190

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Beige cardstock.
  • Card Front: (4¼” x 5½”) Dark Wood patterned piece of paper from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper pack.
    • For the Splatters and Spots elements, the Ink Spot Splatter image from the retired Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (circa 2013) was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
  • Accent Mat: (3⅜” x 4⅝”) Basic Beige cardstock.
    • The sentiment, Here’s to the best day ever, from the retired Flirty Flowers stamp set (circa 2017) was stamped with Pecan Pie ink and die-cut with the (1¼”) Stitched Circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
  • Rectangle Panel: (3¼” x 4½”) Pecan Pie cardstock.
    • Using a Sponge Dauber and the Square Grid Stencils from the retired Artistic Mix Decorative Masks set, Pecan Pie ink was added.
  • Banner Flag: (2½” x 3¾”) Linen patterned piece of paper from Woven Textures Designer Series Paper pack, an On-Line Exclusive product, flagged at (¾”) with Paper Snips.
    • A section of the Trees image from the retired Lovely as a Tree stamp set (circa 2001) was stamped with Pecan Pie ink.
  • Diagonal Element: (2½” x ¾”) Burlap patterned piece of paper, also from the Woven Textures Designer Series Paper pack, trimmed on the diagonal.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  Both the Panel and the Sentiment were popped up with Dimensionals.

What fun to celebrate Earth Day with one of Stampin’ Up!’s iconic stamp sets, Lovely as a Tree.  This stamp set debuted in 2001 and retired in 2019.  It is still a classic!

  2. I am pretty sure that Lovely as a Tree was in the very first SU! catalog I ever saw and that was 20 years ago, so great to see it used for a new project. Love all the different textures you used here and you did a great job combining all the challenges–that diagonal panel on top of the banner had me confused when I did the sketch challenge : ) Thanks for playing along with us at SUO Challenges, always a pleasure to see you in our gallery!
