Singing in the Rain – Umbrella Days

I am delighted to be featured as the Crazy Cousin Guest Designer for Double Trouble this March month.  Today is the last one.

Double Trouble (#188) Another 3-2-1. Okay: Three Rainbow Colors – Red, Yellow and Blue; Two (or more) Dies Cuts; One Scene.

I paired this list with the As You See (#344) Sketch and the Time Out (#285) Movie Inspired Theme.

Here is the result:

UMBRELLA DAYS BUNDLE – DT188 – AYSI344 – TOC285

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Azure Afternoon cardstock.
  • Card Front: (4” x 5¼”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The sentiment, The storm will end and the sun will shine again, from the Umbrella Days stamp set, an On-Line Exclusive product, was stamped with Pebbled Path ink.
    • Above that, the Little Person image from the same stamp set was also stamped with Pebbled Path ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Umbrella – Light and Dark Poppy Parade; Coat and Boots – retired Light and Medium Daffodil Delight (Stampin’ Blendabilities); Pants – Light and Dark Azure Afternoon; and Hands – Ivory.
    • The Dog image was also stamped with Pebbled Path ink onto the Silicone Craft Sheet and pressed to the cardstock for the reverse image and then colored with the Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends Markers with his Collar colored with the Dark Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends Marker.
    • A few details were re-added with my Fine-Tipped Black Liquid Gel Pen.
    • The Little Person image Umbrella part was stamped on to a Post-It-Note and fussy cut with Paper Snips to serve as a Mask for the Umbrella.  With the Mask in place, the Rain Drop image was stamped with Pool Party ink and the Stamp-a-ma-jig Positioning Tool to add Rain to the scene.
    • To complete the scene, a bit of Water was added under the Child and the Dog with the Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blends Marker.
    • Additionally, a liberal dose of Wink of Stella Glitter was added to the Rain, Umbrella and Puddle.
  • Stacked Shapes – Umbrellas: Basic White cardstock, Pebbled Path cardstock, 2024/2025 Brights Collection Designer Series Paper (Poppy Parade and Azure Afternoon) and 2024/2025 Regals Collection Designer Series Paper (Crushed Curry) scraps.
    • Three Umbrella images were stamped on to Basic White cardstock and fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
    • Using the Umbrella and Handle dies from the coordinating Umbrella Days Dies set, we have the pieces to create the rainbow-colored Umbrellas.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The three topsy-turvy windblown Umbrellas were popped up with Dimensionals.

A sweet colorful card.
