The Open Sea – Cheers!

Design Team Time: This round at Cardz 4 Guyz (#368), we have an open inspiration challenge with the Letter “S”.  My “S” word is Ship.

Design choices were influenced by The Male Room (#196) featuring Mixed Media and I am sharing this card with Inspire Create (#188) and their current Masculine theme.

Here is the result:

THE OPEN SEA – CLASSIC WEDDING – C4G368 – TMR196 – ICC188

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Lost Lagoon cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Watercolor Wash patterned piece of paper from the Everyday Happiness Designer Series Paper pack, an On-Line Exclusive product.
    • Mixed Media Build-Up:
      • (1) – (2” x 3½”) Crushed Curry Grid patterned piece of paper from the retired World of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. The Manifest image from the retired The Open Sea stamp set was stamped with Basic Gray ink and then the edges were torn.
      • (2) – (4” x ¼”) Navy Striped retired Washi Tape, edges torn added.
      • (3) – (4” x 1⅜”) Black Scripted patterned piece of vellum from the retired Vellum Layering Designs Paper pack.
      • (4) – (4” x ½”) Gold Striped retired Washi Tape, edges torn.
      • (5) – Coffee Stain image from the retired Timeless Textures stamp set was stamped with Pecan Pie ink and then water was added to blur the image using the Fine-Tipped Water Painter and some paper towel to dab up the excess water.
      • (6) – Compass image from The Open Sea stamp set was stamped with 2nd Generation (stamped off once) Lost Lagoon ink.
      • (7) – Splatter image from the retired Notes of Nature stamp set was stamped with Wild Wheat ink, both 1st and 2nd Generation.
  • Focal Image – (2½” x 1¾’) Pretty Peacock cardstock scrap.
    • The Ship image, also from The Open Sea stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
  • Sentiment Label: (1⅝” x ½”) Crushed Curry Grid scrap.
    • The sentiment, Cheers!, from the Classic Wedding stamp set, also an On-Line Exclusive product, was stamped with Basic Gray ink.

The Mixed Media Panel was adhered to the card base and the Ship was popped up with Dimensionals.  The Sentiment Label was then tucked under the Focal Image.

What a fun card to make!
