Cupcake Cat – Birthday Card

Welcome back!  Friday already…

Several related challenges today: Just Us Girls (#675) a birthday card featuring dies; Krafty Chicks (#758) birthday week and Inspired By (#326) featuring cupcakes.

I selected the Creative Colour (#183) palette and the Sketch Saturday (#770) layout to bring my ideas together.

Here is the result:

BEST DAY – INSPIRED THOUGHTS – SPRING CORNERS – JUGS675 – KCC758 – IB326 – CCC183 – SS770

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Blueberry Bushel cardstock die-cut with the new Pattern of Friendship Die, an On-Line Exclusive product.
  • Accent Block: (4½” x 2”) Pumpkin Pie Dotted patterned piece of paper from the 2024/2025 Brights Collection Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Tilted Block: (3¼” x 1⅛”) Very Vanilla cardstock scrap.
    • The truncated sentiment, Thinking of You on your, from the retired Inspired Thoughts stamp set was selectively inked with the Blueberry Bushel Stampin’ Write Marker and then stamped.
    • Completing the Sentiment Phrase, the word, Birthday, from the Wanted To Say Dies set, was die-cut from a scrap of Blueberry Bushel cardstock.
  • Focal Image – Cupcake Cat: Very Vanilla cardstock scrap.
    • The Cupcake Cat image from the retired Best Day stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends and retired Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers.  Colors Chosen: Cat – Medium and Dark Daffodil Delight (retired); Cupcake Sleeve – Light and Dark Blueberry Bushel and Dark Pumpkin Pie; Party Hat: Light Blueberry Bushel and Dark Pumpkin Pie; and Bow Tie – Dark Pumpkin Pie.
    • The Cupcake Cat was then fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
  • Party Balloons – Very Vanilla cardstock scrap.
    • The Balloon image from the Spring Corners stamp set, also and On-Line Exclusive product, was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with the retired Medium Daffodil Delight and the Light Blueberry Bushel and Light Pumpkin Pie markers.  The Balloon highlights were created with the Color Lifter Stampin’ Blends Marker.
    • The Balloons were then die-cut with the coordinating die from the Spring Corners Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Cupcake Cat and Balloons were popped up with Dimensionals.

A fun birthday card, suitably masculine in colors and design but great for anyone!
