Hello – Thoughtful Moments

Sneaking in a card I created yesterday but ran out of time to post…

This week at Stampin’ Through the Catalog, Nicole Peschke from kreatives_papierwunder, was the Guest Designer. 

We are encouraged to be inspired by her design and CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) it.

I loved her card, and my takeaways were the colors, the water-coloring aspect, the bold sentiment and layered textures.  Yet I wanted to simplify some of the elements.

Concurrently, Stampin’ Up! also encouraged us to try our hand at using a Watercolor Wash Technique as one of their February Creative Challenges.  

Here is my creation:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
• Card Front: (4¼” x 5½”) Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper to match.
• Accent Mat: (4¼” x 5½”) Smoky Slate cardstock hand torn.  Approximate finished size: (3½” x 4½”).
• Focal Panel: (4¼” x 5½”) Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.
  • Using the Wide-Tipped Water Painter Brush, Coastal Cabana, Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight ink colors were painted and allowed to dry.
  • Using the Floral Design Stencil from the retired Artistic Mix Decorative Masks set with Coastal Cabana and Flirty Flamingo inks, the Floral Design was added using Blending Brushes to mimic the floral die-cuts in the original card.
  • The Panel was also hand torn.  Approximate finished size: (3¼” x 4¼”)
• Sentiment – Hello: (3½” x 2”) Basic Black cardstock sentiment.
  • Using the Thoughtful Moments Hybrid Embossing Folder / Dies combination, Stampin’ Craft White ink was added to the top side of the embossing folder.  The cardstock and the coordinating die were then added, and the entire sandwich was passed through the Cut & Emboss Machine resulting in the inked, embossed and die-cut sentiment.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the Nicole’s layout.
