Winter Deer – Celebrate

Welcome back!  A new assignment:  I have been invited to be a guest designer with The Card Concept team for the next several months. What fun! Lots of great inspiration from all the team members. Please check them out.

Our January theme is Winter Solstice and my card is a monochromatic clean and simple interpretation.  

Additional influences: Just Us Girls (#756) to use Dies and Krafty Chicks (#749) for the birthday sentiment.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Gray cardstock.
• Under Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Watercolor Paper.
  • Using the Wide-Tipped Water Painter Brush, a loose light watercolor wash was applied with Pebbled Path ink.
• Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Watercolor Paper die-cut with the Oval Tree die from the retired Aspen Tree Dies set.
  • Wink of Stella Clear Glitter was added to the Trees.  It is hard to see, but very pretty and sparkly.
• Focal Image – Deer: (4” x 4”) Watercolor Paper.
  • The section including the two Deer images from the retired Graceful Deer stamp set was stamped with Pecan Pie ink.
  • Using a Blender Pen and additional Pecan Pie ink, more color was added to the Deer images.
  • The Deer were fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
• Sentiment Banner: (4¼” x 1½”) Basic Gray cardstock.
  • The Banner image from the Mixed Labels stamp set, an On-Line Exclusive Product, was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
  • The sentiment, the perfect day to celebrate, from the retired Graceful Tiles stamp set was also stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.  The sentiment was selected because I liked it, and it was a photopolymer stamp that could be bent (shaped) to fit the Banner.
  • The Banner was then die-cut with the coordinating die from the Mixed Labels Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base and the Deer and the Banner were popped up with Dimensionals.

This card is a great masculine birthday card but could also work for as a nice retirement card.
