Welcome back! The sun might be shining but it’s an unusually cold day (almost freezing temps) for us in the south. Let’s say “It’s a Hot Cocoa Day”.
A number of challenges that fit a “cold” theme. Addicted to CAS (#273) Code Word: Brrr!; Caffeinated Christmas Coffee (#36) to add a Snowman; and Time Out (#278) Holiday theme focusing on the Snowman in the inspiration image.

I selected the palette from Color Dare (#630) Shades of Blue and brought it all together with the Try a Sketch on Tuesday (#660) layout.

Here is the result:

Steps:
- Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Boho Blue cardstock.
- Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Night of Navy cardstock.
- Triangle Overlay: (3¼” x 5”) Basic White cardstock.
- Using Blending Brushes, starting in the center of the Panel and working to the edges, Balmy Blue, Boho Blue, Misty Moonlight, Blueberry Bushel and Night of Navy inks were added.
- The Panel was then dry-embossed with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder for a little Winter Brrr.
- The Panel was then cut in four on the diagonal and adhered to the Night of Navy Background Panel.
- Focal Image – Cocoa Mug: (2” x 2½”) Basic White cardstock scrap.
- The Outline Mug image from the Have a Cup on Us stamp set (Stamp Simply) was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
- The Snowman image from the retired Frosty Friends stamp set was selectively inked (using the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker) and added to the Mug.
- A few lines were added free-hand with my Fine-Tipped Black Liquid Gel Pen (Snow Line and the Top and Lower Bands)
- To add a few Snow details, The Top and Lower Bands were stamped with the tail end of the Flowing Snowflakes image from the retired Curvy Christmas stamp set with Versamark ink and heat-set with Clear Embossing Powder.
- The Snowman Mug was colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers. Colors selected: Pool Party, Balmy Blue, Boho Blue, Misty Moonlight and Blueberry Bushel and then die-cut with the coordinating die from the Have a Cup on Us Dies set (Stamp Simply)
- Sentiment Label: (3” x 2”) Basic White cardstock scrap.
- The sentiment, It’s a Hot Cocoa Day, from the Christmas Labels stamp set was stamped with Night of Navy ink and the open font Hot Cocoa letters were colored with the Boho Blue Stampin’ Blend Marker.
- The sentiment was then die-cut with the coordinating die from the Christmas Labels Dies set.
- The bright white of the Label was toned down by adding light Boho Blue coloring with a Blending Brush.
All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch. The Cocoa Mug was popped up with Dimensionals.
How nice to look forward to a Hot Cocoa after being outside on a cold and blustery day. Enjoy the Holiday Season!

Loving the frosty feel of your card and the very welcomed mug of cocoa. Great card, however, I’m not sure I would classify your card as exactly clean and simple. Thanks for joining us at Addicted to CAS.
