Welcome back! Happy Saturday…are you supporting your local merchants with Shop Small?
We just got back from a short perusal of shops on our main drag. Lots of nice things with everyone decked out for Christmas. With that in mind, I am in the Studio and playing with a few challenges.
For CAS on Friday (#297), we are asked to create a clean and simple card with non-traditional holiday items.

Over at Alphabet (Letter R), the “R” is for Round and Just Add Ink (#730) is looking for Fruit. Can’t get more Round than sliced Citrus and I would say that that is a non-traditional holiday item!

Bringing it all together, I chose the 2014 (#305) Layout for the current Sketch Saturday (#765) request.

Here is the result:

Steps:
- Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Daffodil Delight cardstock.
- Background Panel: (4″ x 5¼”) Lemon Lime Twist Grid patterned piece of paper from the retired Tutti Frutti Designer Series Paper pack.
- The sentiment, Season’s Greetings, from the Decorative Trees stamp set was stamped with Versamark and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
- Focal Image – Wreath: Citrus Slices were fussy-cut with Paper Snips from the Citrus patterned piece of paper, also from the Tutti Frutti Designer Series Paper pack.
- The Citrus elements were arranged into a Wreath circling the sentiment. A few single Citrus Slices were added and popped up with Dimensionals.
- Decoration – Bow: Calypso Coral cardstock scrap.
- The Bow image from the Sentimental Wishes stamp set was also stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder and then die-cut with the coordinating die from the Sentimental Wishes Dies set.
- The Bow was added to the Wreath with a Dimensional.
- To complete the card, several Gold Textured Adhesive-Backed Dots were added for a bit of bling.
Happy Sweet Holidays!
