Good morning! Having a nice Sunday play in the Studio. Aren’t weekends grand?
The challenges: Stampin’ Up Only (#364) to Honor Our Heros; Festive Friday (#172) for several elements: Red, Black, Masking, Texture and Twine; and Tuesday Morning Sketches (#782) for the Layout.

Here is the result:

Steps:
- Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
- Background Panel: (4″ x 5¼”) Basic White cardstock dry-embossed with the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder.
- Accent Mat: (2” x 5”) Basic Black cardstock.
- Focal Panel: (1⅞” x 4⅞”) Basic White cardstock.
- The two Poppy Flowers from the retired Painted Poppies stamp set were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
- The two Poppies were also stamped onto a Post-It-Note and fussy-cut with Paper Snips to create Masks.
- With the Masks in place, the Stem image from the retired Secret Garden stamp set and the Leaf image, also from the Painted Poppies stamp set were added with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
- The Masks were removed, and the Flowers were colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers. Colors chosen: Blossoms – Light and Dark Real Red; Floral Center – Light Daffodil Delight; and Leaf and Stems – Light and Dark Mossy Meadow.
- Sentiment Block: (3¼” x 1½”) Basic White cardstock scrap.
- The sentiment, Sometimes there are no words, from the Thoughtful Expressions stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and die-cut with the (2⅞” x 1¼”) Elongated Octagonal die from the Countryside Corners Dies set.
- Twine: (5”) Basic White Baker’s Twine was colored with the Dark Real Red Stampin’ Blend Marker, allowed to dry, and then wrapped around the edge of the Sentiment Block.
All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch and the Sentiment was popped-up with Dimensionals. Three retired Basic Black Classic Matte Dots were added to complete the card.
We remember their service and we are beyond grateful…sometimes there are no words to express the depth of that gratitude.
