Feathered Flight – Hello

Design Team Time: This round at Cardz 4 Guyz (#360), we are asked to choose three of our favorite colors.  When designing for men, I like to choose neutral earthy colors and selected Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Crumb Cake.

My card design was inspired by both the Farm Quest (#63) and Heart’s Quest (#65) to include a bird, feather and another element, a heart.  I chose a Mallard Duck instead of a Turkey, as I do not have a Turkey image.  Ducks grace Holiday Tables just as often as Turkeys so, I hope it is a good substitute. I selected the Sunday Stamps (#348) Sketch and I am also sharing this card with Krafty Chicks (#741) for this week’s theme featuring Stamps.

Here is the result:

FEATHERED FLIGHT – FINE FEATHERS – UNBOUNDED LOVE – C4G360 – FQCB63 – HQCB65 – SSC348 – KCC741

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Crumb Cake cardstock.
  • Side Strip: (1” x 5½”) Old Olive cardstock dry-embossed with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder.  For the Heart’s Quest Kraft Heart element, a Heart die from the retired Support Ribbon Framelits Dies set was used to create the little Heart image.
  • Center Panel: (2½” x 5½”) Sunkissed Grass patterned piece of paper from the retired Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Shape: (2” x 3½”) Very Vanilla cardstock die-cut with the (1⅞” x 3⅜”) Elongated Octagonal die from the Countryside Corners Dies set.
    • The Water Scene image from the now retired Feathered Flight stamp set was colored with the Crushed Curry, Crumb Cake and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers and then stamped along the bottom of the cut piece.
  • Decoration – Mallard and Feather: Very Vanilla cardstock scrap.
    • The Flying Duck image, also from the Feathered Flight stamp set, and the Feather image from the retired Fine Feathers stamp set were colored with the Stampin’ Write Markers and fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
  • Sentiment: Very Vanilla cardstock scrap.
    • The greeting, hello, from the Unbounded Love stamp set was stamped with Old Olive ink and the cardstock was colored with the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend Marker before being die-cut with the Diagonal Cut Label die from the Something Fancy Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Mallard and the Sentiment were both popped up with Dimensionals.
