Purr-fect Scaredy Kat – Big Hug

Hi again!  A few challenges due today and I am having fun in the Studio with another hand-drawn image.

For the Tuesday Morning (#772) sketch, which I flipped to the horizontal position, I chose the Facebook Global Design Project (#461) colors.

Here is the result:

PERFECT WORDS – HAND-DRAWN IMAGE – TMS772 – GDP461

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
  • Vertical Strip Panel: (2½” x 4¼”) Lemon Lime Twist Striped patterned piece of paper from the 2024/2025 Brights Collection Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Cross Strip Panel: (5½” x 2”) Gorgeous Grape Dotted patterned piece of paper from the 2024/2025 Regals Collection Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Shape – Oval: Basic Black, Lemon Lime Twist and Basic White cardstock.
    • Accent Mat Oval (1): (2½” x 3½”) Basic Black die-cut with the (2⅜” x 3¼”) Oval die from the retired Layering Ovals Framelits Dies set.
    • Accent Mat Oval (2): (2½” x 3½”) Lemon Lime Twist die-cut with another of the (2⅛” x 3”) Oval die from the same Dies set.
    • Focal Image Oval: (4¼” x 3”) Basic White.
      • Using Masking Paper, the center (1”) area was left exposed and Gorgeous Grape ink was added with a Blending Brush and then the Masking Paper was removed.
      • Using a Pencil, I lightly drew the “Hanging” Kat which was inspired by a Pinterest perusal of silhouette images.
      • The Kat was filled in with both my Black Fine-Tipped Liquid Gel Pen and Sharpie Marker and the aid of a Ruler for the straight-line edges.
      • All Pencil marks were then erased.
      • The Kat’s Ears, Eye, Nose and Paw Pads were colored with the Light Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Blends Marker.
      • The sentiment, BIG {HUG}, from the retired Perfect Words stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
      • The Kat was then die-cut with the (1⅞” x 2¾”) Oval die from the same Dies set.
      • All Oval layers were adhered together.
      • The truncated bits (Ears, Whiskers and Tail) of my hand-drawn Kat were added back with the Fine-Tipped Liquid Gel Pen.

All elements were then adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.

Who is afraid of a Black Kat?  Looks like the Kat is the scared one and needs a Big Hug!  Sending you one, too…
