Gift of Love

Welcome back!  A brand-new week and I am off to a good start…

Just Us Girls (#742) has challenged us to choose a Design Team member’s card and give it a bit of a make-over i.e. CASE (Copy and Share Everything).

I selected Ina’s artsy floral card and gave it a softer color palette while retaining many of the design elements.  I am also sharing this card with Ellibelle’s I Spy With My Little Eye (#18) Something from the Garden.

Here is the result:

GIFT OF LOVE – IRRESISTIBLE BLOOMS – JUGS742 – EIS018

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (3” x 4¼”) Daffodil Delight / Flirty Flamingo Cross Hatch patterned piece of paper from the now retired Hello, Irresistible Designer Series Paper pack.
    • The Panel was adhered in place with Temporary Adhesive for placement and the Floral image from the retired Gift of Love stamp set was stamped in the lower right corner with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • Using a Ruler and my Fine-Tipped Liquid Gel Pen, I added the black edging around the Panel.
    • The Panel was removed and the sentiment, You have a gift for making others feel loved, from the same stamp set was also stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink in the upper left corner.  I preferred this to the edged cut-out that Ina selected so the design would stay soft.
    • The Panel was adhered back in place and the Splatter image from the now retired Irresistible Blooms stamp set was added in the upper right and lower left corners with Flirty Flamingo ink.
  • Floral Pop-Ups: Daffodil Delight and Flirty Flamingo Watercolor Wash patterned piece of paper from the same Designer Series Paper pack was selected, and I re-stamped the Floral portion of the stamp image in the Daffodil Delight area.
    • The Blooms were fussy cut with Paper Snips and adhered in place over the original stamped image with two Blooms popped up with Dimensionals.
    • Using a Q-Tip, I lightly added a bit of Flirty Flamingo ink to the Blooms.

And we are done! All in all, a very pretty card.  I hope you can see where I took inspiration and elements from Ina’s card.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!

  1. Beautiful design Jolanda – the offset focal flower looks wonderful against your background. Thanks so much for sharing with this month’s “I Spy With My Little Eye” Challenge..
