Waves of Inspiration – High Tide Shine

Design Time: This round Cardz 4 Guyz (#354) is celebrating the Dawn and the Dusk.  As an early morning riser, I went with Sunrise…

The other challenges that informed my design decisions:  Tic Tac Toe (#254) for Sunshine, Birds and Beach and Addicted To CAS (#265) for the Technique. Bringing them together, I chose the Paper Craft Crew (#583) Sketch which I flipped to the vertical. I am also sharing this card with Ellibelle’s Crafty Wednesday (August) Anything Goes.

Here is the result:

WAVES OF INSPIRATION – HIGH TIDE – SEASCAPE – C4G354 – TTTC254 – ATCAS265 – PCC583 – ECWC August

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Beige cardstock.
  • Accent Mat: (2¼” x 5⅛”) Lost Lagoon cardstock.
  • Focal Panel: (3” x 4½”) Very Vanilla Cardstock.
    • The Pelican on the Pilings image from the retired Waves Of Inspiration stamp set was stamped with Pecan Pie ink.
    • A Mask already existed in the stamp case and was made with a Post-It-Note for a prior project, so I used it to mask the Pelican.
    • Using Blending Brushes and lots of ink colors, the Sunrise was created.
      • I started with Lemon Lolly down the entire center of the Panel.
      • Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie were used for the Beach.
      • Soft Sea Foam, Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight were used for the Water.
      • Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo and Misty Moonlight were used for the Sky.
    • The Sand image from the retired Seascape stamp set was stamped with Crumb Cake ink across the Beach area.
    • The Water image from the retired High Tide stamp set was stamped with Misty Moonlight ink across the Water area.
    • The Mask was removed, and image was colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Pelican Body – Light Smoky Slate; Pelican Beak – Dark Daffodil Delight; and Piling Shadows – Dark Daffodil Delight and Light Crumb Cake.
    • Small details, the Pelican’s eye and feet were highlighted with a bit of Black using my Fine-Tipped Liquid Gel Pen.
    • The Grass image, also from the High Tide stamp set was added to the Pilings area with Mossy Meadow ink.
    • Additional Sunrise coloring was added with Daffodil Delight ink and a Blending Brush to intensify the scene.
    • The sentiment, You have the most amazing ability to take an ordinary moment and make it shine, again from the High Tide stamp set was stamped with Lost Lagoon ink.

The layers were adhered together and Focal Panel and Mat were popped up with Dimensionals. Simple Stamping, just stamps, ink and paper for a clean and simple card.

A wonderful compliment to a great guy…
