Sketched Butterflies – Thinking of You

Welcome back!  Catching up for a deadline and playing with a few other challenges today.

So, the sketch is for Sunday Stamps (#340) with the Inspire Create (#173) colors kept in the Subtle Family with the embossing technique challenge required for both Just Add Ink (#713) and Can You Handle The Pressure (#60) opting for the theme twist: Things with Wings.

Here is the result:

SKETCHED BUTTERFLIES BUNDLE – SSC340 – ICC173 – JAI713 – CYHTP60

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Lemon Lolly cardstock.
  • Background Panel (4” x 5¼”) Balmy Blue cardstock.
    • Using both my Big Shot Embossing Machine and the now retired Big Shot Embossing Mats, I embossed the Panel with the smaller Butterfly dies from the Sketched Butterflies Dies set.
  • Vertical Cross Panels: (1⅛” x 3”) Balmy Blue Dotted patterned paper from the 2024/2025 Subtles Collection Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Horizontal Cross Strip: (4” x 1”) Basic White cardstock scrap dry-embossed with the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder.
    • Lemon Lolly ink was added to highlight the pattern with a Blending Brush.
  • Rectangle Panel: (2¼” x 3”) Soft Sea Foam cardstock scrap.
    • Again, small Butterflies were embossed using the same method as described above.
    • The sentiment, Thinking of you, from the Sketched Butterflies stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with Black Embossing Powder.
  • Decoration – Butterfly: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • Similarly, the Medium Butterfly image from the Sketched Butterflies stamp set was stamped and embossed.
    • The Butterfly was colored with the Light Lemon Lolly, Soft Sea Foam and Balmy Blue Stampn’ Blends Markers.
    • The Butterfly was then die-cut with the coordinating Butterfly die from the Sketched Butterflies Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Butterfly was popped up with Dimensionals and a few Basic Rhinestone Jewels were added for a bit of bling.

A soft and pretty all-purpose card.

  1. Oooh, I love the subtle DSP strips and the background butterfly texture. What a great way to use a die in a different way. Thank you for sharing on Sunday Stamps this week.
