Friends for Life – Happy Birthday

Welcome to Sunday and the newest Paper Players (#699) challenge.  This week, Joanne has asked us to create a clean and simple Birthday card.  A favorite style of mine!

I took inspiration from several other current CAS challenges to design my card slipping in one extra for the color choices.  To be considered for a win with Paper Players, the limit is four challenges in total.

Sketch: CAS Colours & Sketches (#541) adding a Frame; Simply Clean & Simple (#13) adding a Heart; CAS on Fridays (#288) adding Circles; and Color Dare (#609) to use Black, Beige and one other color and I selected Melon Mambo.

Here is the result:

FRIENDS FOR LIFE BUNDLE – PP669 – CC&S541 – SCS013 – COS288 – CD609

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4⅛” x 5⅜”) Basic Beige cardstock.
  • Heart & Friend: Basic Beige cardstock die-cut three times each with the Open Heart Frame die and the word Friend die from the Friends for Life Dies set.
    • The dies-cuts were adhered in a stack to create tone-on-tone dimension.
  • Sentiment Label: (1¾” x ⅞”) Basic Beige cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, Happy Birthday, from the Friends for Life stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
  • Circle: (1” x 1”) Melon Mambo cardstock scrap die-cut with the (⅞”) Circle die from the now retired Radiating Stitches Dies set that I found on my work table.
  • Circles: (⅛”) Lovely Lipstick retired 2020/2021 In-Color Dots found in my stash.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  Both the Melon Mambo Circle and the Sentiment Label were popped up with Dimensionals.

Keeping it all very minimal for a classic clean and simple design.
