Spotlight on Nature – It’s Your Day

One more card for today… 

Stampin’ Through the Catalog is featuring Spotlight on Nature (page 69) for Tuesday and I am getting a head start by combining it with a number of other challenges.

How about a clean and simple card? One of my favorite styles.  Addicted to CAS (#261) theme – Critter; CAS on Friday (#286) theme – Nature; and AAA Cards (#268) has a cool Sketch.

The Mood Board presented by Inkspirational (#318) has a great color combination and tons of ideas.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Smoky Slate cardstock.
• Focal Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Basic White cardstock.
  • The Butterfly image from the Spotlight on Nature stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink
  • The Butterfly was stamped again onto Masking Paper and fussy-cut with Paper Snips and used to cover the original Butterfly.
  • A piece of Copy Paper (4¼” x 5½”) was die-cut with the three smaller Circle dies from the Deckled Circles Dies set and a small Label Punch was punched for the smallest Circle.  This was used as a Stenciling Mask.
  • Using Blending Brushes, the Circles were added.  Colors: Crushed Curry, Smoky Slate, Pool Party and then Summer Splash.
  • The Cross Hatch image from the same stamp set was then stamped in the respective colors on top of the blended Circles.
  • The sentiment, It’s your day, from the Penciled Pear stamp set was chosen and stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
  • The Butterfly Mask was removed and a bit of Smoky Slate ink still in the Blending Brush was added to tone down the bright white.

And that is a wrap!  One of nature’s prettiest creatures, a butterfly set against the bokeh dots in the inspiration colors reflecting the Paint Pot Circle photo image mimicked by the sketch.
