Hooray for Surprises – You’re the Best

Design Team time.  Facebook Case-ing Tuesday (#465).  The project we are case-ing can be found on page 58 of the Annual Catalog.   Each week, a card sample from the catalog is selected and we invite you to re-create it any way you like.

I was inspired by the Colors and Stripes suggested by Just Add Ink (#706).  Always something fresh about a Navy and White combination.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Night of Navy cardstock.
• Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • The Stripes were added by hand using the Dark Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends Marker.
• Tag: (2½” x 4¼”) Night of Navy cardstock die-cut with the (2⅜” x 4”) Elongated Octagonal die from the Countryside Corners Dies set.
• Tag Accent: (1¾” x 2¾”) Basic White cardstock scrap die-cut with the (1⅝” x 2½’) Rectangle die from the Something Fancy Dies set.
  • A Border was hand drawn with the Dark Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends Marker.
  • The sentiment, You’re the Best, from the Hooray for Surprises stamp set was stamped with Night of Navy ink.
• Decoration – Flowers: (2” x 2½”) Basic White cardstock scraps.
  • The Flower image, also from the same stamp set, Hooray for Surprises was stamped twice with Night of Navy ink and die-cut with the coordinating Flower die from the Hooray for Surprises Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Flowers were popped up with Dimensionals.  A Bow was tied using some retired White Crinkled Seam Binding (still in my stash) to complete the card.

A quick and easy, yet breezy summer card.
