Welcome back! Sunday, a day to rest, relax and play…in the Studio.
Today I am creating a card for Try a Sketch on Tuesday (#648)…a simplified version of the sketch and using the palette suggested by Color Throwdown (#797).

Here is the result:

Steps:
- Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
- Focal Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.
- I punched out a partial (2”) circle from Masking Paper using the 2” Circle Punch, an On-Line Exclusive product.
- The Mask was set in place.
- Using the Yellow, Gamboge and Brilliant Red retired Bruso Crystal Colors, I sprinkled a line of Yellow through the middle, Gamboge on either side top and bottom and then Brilliant Red across the top and the bottom.
- I liberally sprayed water from a Stampin’ Spritzer over the watercolor paper allowing the colors to blends.
- A little extra blending was facilitated with the Wide-Tipped Water Painter Brush and a bit of a mop up with a paper towel.
- I sped up the drying process with the Heat Tool.
- Once dry, the Mask was removed and the area was colored with Daffodil Delight ink applied with a Blending Brush creating a “Sun”.
- Using my Black Fine-Tipped Liquid Gel Pen, I doodled a horizon and gentle waves to suggest the “Water”.
- The smaller Sailboat and the sentiment, You are my True North, from the retired Sailing Home stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
- The Hull and the Sails were colored with the Light Poppy Parade and Lemon Lolly Stampin’ Blends Markers.
- Accents and Highlights were added with the White Watercolor Pencil.
Another card perfect for Father’s Day or to celebrate any number of occasions.
