Sailing Home – Father’s Day

Design Time: Cardz 4 Guyz (#349) is featuring Father’s Day…

So many other challenges are sporting a similar theme, and I took lots of inspiration from them for this card.

Double Trouble (#168) for a Masculine card partnering with Colorful Options (June) for the Aqua color; and Stampin’ Up! Only (#353) for a Dad card…

Make My Monday (#227) B is for; Inkspirational (#317) to add a Frame; and The Male Room (#187) to add Twine…

I also opted to use the THIS or THAT Stampin’ Up! (June) Creative Challenge Sketch to bring all my ideas together.

Here is the result:

BESIDE ME – SAILING HOME – WATERFRONT – C4G349 – DT168 – COC June – SUOC353 – MMM227 – IB317 – TMR187 – SUCC June

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Vertical Strip: (3” x 5½”) Coastal Cabana Striped patterned piece of paper from the 2024/2025 Brights Collection Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Circles – Small: Crumb Cake cardstock scraps die-cut with the (1⅜”) Stitched Circle die from the Everyday Details Dies set dry-embossed with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Circle – Medium: Night of Navy cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, Happy Father’s Day, from the Beside Me stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder and then die-cut with the (1⅞”) Dotted Circle die also from the Everyday Details Dies set.
  • Frame: (3¾” x 3¾”) Coastal Cabana cardstock die-cut with both the (3⅝”) and (3⅛”) Circle dies from the retired Circles Collection Framelits Dies set.
    • The Frame was also dry-embossed with Timber 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Circle Underlay: (3½” x 3½”) Night of Navy cardstock also die-cut with the (3⅛”) Circle die from the Circle Collection Framelits Dies set.
  • Focal Image – Scene: (3½” x 3½”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Smaller Sailboat image and the Seagull image from the retired Sailing Home stamp set was stamped with Night of Navy ink.
    • A Post-It-Note Mask was also stamped and fussy-cut with Paper Snips to cover the Sailboat.
    • From the retired Waterfront stamp set, the ground/water image was stamped with both Crumb Cake ink and 2nd Generation (stamped off once) Coastal Cabana ink to create the Beach and the Water.
    • The Boat Hull and the Boat Sails were colored with the Dark and Light retired Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers.
    • The Scene was then die-cut with the (3⅛”) Dotted Circle die, also from the Everyday Details Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  A piece of knotted Linen Thread was added to the side of the Frame which was popped up slightly with Mini Glue Dots.

What a great way to celebrate his day…all together for a refreshing sail around the bay…
