Bike Ride – Fun on Wheels

Happy Sunday!

Over at Festive Friday (#159), the team is celebrating Brother’s Day with a fun list of elements to choose from.  Easier to say what I didn’t choose than what I did for this card.

I am also sharing this card with Ellibelle’s I Spy (#15) Something for the Boys.

I have distinct memories of my brothers and I riding through the neighborhood and picking apples at an old farm that soon became the site of a primary school.  There were so many kids in our developing and ever-expanding neighborhood that three more primary schools were built to support the three that were there when we moved in during the ‘60’s.

Here is the result:

BIKE RIDE – FUN ON WHEELS – FF0159 – EIS015

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Brushed Silver cardstock (retired but still in my stash) dry-embossed with both the Diamond Fun Patterns Embossing Folder, and On-Line Exclusive product, and the retired Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Focal Image – Bicycle: Basic White and Real Red cardstock scraps.  Images: Bike Ride stamp set and the coordinating Build A Bike Framelits Dies set – both retired.
    • The Bike Frame was stamped with Real Red ink and the Two-Step fill-in stamps, Handle Grips, Seat and Pedal were added with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • The Wheels were stamped with the Black and the Inner Tire Ring was stamped with Red.
    • The Basket was stamped with Black as were the Apples.  The Apple in-fill was stamped with Red.
    • All pieces were then die-cut and the Basket Support was die-cut from a scrap of Real Red cardstock.
    • The Bicycle was assembled and two small Black Classic Matte Dots were added to the Wheel Mounts.
  • Sentiment Flag: Basic Black cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, Look At You Go, from the retired Fun on Wheels stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • The sentiment was trimmed to (2⅜” x ⅜”) and hand-flagged with Paper Snips.

Have wheels, will travel…we certainly went far and wide back in my day…

What a fun trip down memory lane.  A super card for a fella and his fire-engine red freedom flyer.
