Bird House – Hello

Design Team Time.  This round at Hand Stamped Sentiments (#435), we have a wonderful Inspiration Board.  So many lovely Spring images to spark your creativity.

I selected the “stack of bird houses” photograph and picked my color palette from there too!

Inspiration for my overall design was influenced by CAS on Friday (#280) to use Dies; Farm Quest (#49) Bird Homes; sneaking in Can You Handle the Pressure (#52) adding a bit of Wood Texture to the Bird Houses; and sharing with Love to Craft (#79) Anything Goes.

Here is the result:

DIE CUT ART – TAILOR MADE TAGS / STYLISH SHAPES DIES – HSSIC435 – COS280 – FQCB49 – CYHTP52 – LTCCB79

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Crumb Cake cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5⅜” x 4⅛”) Very Vanilla cardstock dry-embossed with the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder for slight wood grain impression.
  • Bird Houses: Pool Party, Copper Clay, Fresh Freesia and Crumb Cake cardstocks.
    • The “House” was die-cut with the (1½” x 3¼”) Tag die from the Tailor Made Tags Dies set.
    • The “Roof” was die-cut with the (1½” x ½”) Stitched Banner die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
    • The “Bird House Opening” was die-cut with the (¾”) Stitched Circle die, also from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
    • The Roof pieces were mitered with Paper Snips.
    • All Bird House elements were dry-embossed with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder for a rustic wood grain texture.
    • The Bird Houses were assembled and additional (¾”) Stitched Circles were die-cut to place in the Bird House Openings.
  • Greeting – Hello: (3½” x 1½”) Crumb Cake cardstock scrap.
    • The cardstock was adhered to a piece of cut Foam Adhesive Sheet the same size.
    • The word, hello, from the retired Hello You Thinlits Dies set was the die-cut.

All elements were adhered to the card base.  The middle Bird House was popped up with Dimensionals.  The Crumb Cake Circles were added to the Bird House Openings and the greeting was then added.  Left over bits from the greeting were added to the Bird House as Bird Landing Posts.

  1. I love the color choices!!! The tones are slightly different from the badge photo but oh my goodness! Those tones with the sandy beige/light kraft color are terrific! For me, it’s a very refreshing color combination for this time of year!!! And then don’t get me started about the wood grain embossed texture on the birdhouses!!!!!! Great idea!! Most of all, your card makes me think of springtime and the outdoors! Thanks for creating for FarmQuest #49!!! –Becca
