By My Side – You’re The Best

Welcome to the newest round of the Cardz 4 Guyz (#343) challenge. This time we are looking for cards with Dogs and/or Puppies.  I just love that sweet little puppy in the By My Side stamp set.

I chose to use the suggested colors from this week’s Color Throwdown (#784) palette.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Balmy Blue cardstock.
• Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Misty Moonlight cardstock dry-embossed with the On-Line Exclusive Cross Hatch Basics 3D Embossing Folder.
• Focal Panel: (5¼” x 3”) Basic White cardstock.
  • The Boy with Puppy image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a Silicone Craft Sheet and the cardstock was pressed into the image to create a reverse-mirror image.
  • The sentiment, You’re The Best, from the Translucent Florals stamp set was stamped with Basic Gray ink.
  • The scene was colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Skin and Puppy Nose – Ivory; Hair – Light Wild Wheat with Bronze highlights and a few doodles with a Black Uniball Micro Pen; T-Shirt – Light Balmy Blue; Short and Shoes – Light Misty Moonlight (for the Grey tone); Puppy – Bronze; and Shadows – Light Balmy Blue (also for a Grey tone).
• Die-Cut Decoration: Everyday Details Dies set.
  • The Scene was adhered to the Background Panel and the edges were die-cut with the Dotted Strip die.

The die-cut panel was adhered to the card base, completing the card which I kept fairly clean and simple as this is a super little card for a young fellow.
