Queen Bee – Congratulations

Welcome back!  Will you have some time to be creative today?

I am having a play with a number of challenges:  I Spy With My Little Eye (#12) something that starts with “B”.  I selected the very pretty Floral Bee from the Queen Bee stamp set.  Giving her, her due, I selected the current Facebook Colour INKspiration (#159) suggestions and the Atlantic Hearts (#565) sketch.  For the greeting, I opted to go with TGIF (#461) to congratulate a very busy Bee friend of mine on her successful completion of a project.

Here is the result:

QUEEN BEE – TRANSLUSCENT FLORALS – EIS012 – CI159 – AHSC565 – TGIFC461

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Smoky Slate cardstock.
  • Accent Mat Top: (4” x 2”) Pretty Peacock Print patterned piece of paper from the Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Accent Mat Bottom: (4″ x 3¼”) Pretty Peacock Leaf patterned piece of paper from the same Paper pack.
    • The sentiment, Congratulations, from the Translucent Florals stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
  • Decoration – Leaf: Pretty Peacock cardstock die-cut with the Open Leaf die from the Gorgeously Made Dies set.
  • Flags: Vellum
    • The Flags were created from (¾”) Strips of Vellum cut and flagged at various lengths with Paper Snips.
    • The two Center Flags were colored with the Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends Marker for a variation in subtle color.
  • Cross Strip: (5” x ⅜”) retired Berry Burst Metallic Edged Ribbon
  • Focal Element – Bee: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The large Floral Bee image from the Queen Bee stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with the Berry Burst and Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blends Markers.
    • The Bee was die-cut with the coordinating die from the retired Queen Bee Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Bee was popped up with Dimensionals.

Such pretty colors and a nice layout for a nice congratulations card.

  1. Love the Velum to give the effect of the banner but still be able to see through to the stunning papers. That dragon fly is beautiful. Thanks for playing along with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge (AHSC).
