Thoughtful Expressions

Welcome to Sunday and the newest Paper Players (#676) challenge. LeAnne has given us a very pretty set of colors to work with this week.

I picked an image from the new Thoughtful Expressions stamp set and the Freshly Made (#622) sketch to create my card.

I tried a little water coloring with Wink of Stella® Clear Glitter. The color dried a little quicker than I anticipated, so I am not sure if I am totally happy with the result but it sure is pretty and sparkles nicely.

Here is the result:

Steps:

Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Smoky Slate cardstock.
Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Basic White cardstock.
- Using a Blending Brush and Smoky Slate ink along with the Diamond Square Stencil from the Foursquare Decorative Masks set, color was applied.
Accent Mat: (2⅜” x 4”) Bubble Bath cardstock with the bottom border punched with the retired Eyelet Scallop Border Punch.
Focal Panel: (2½” x 3½”) Basic White cardstock.
- The Double Floral image was stamped with Smoky Slate ink and the sentiment, You’re in my thoughts today, was stamped with Berry Burst ink,
- I mixed Bubble Bath ink with Wink of Stella® Clear Glitter and a bit of water on a Block with the Fine-Tipped Water Painter Brush coloring the Flowers.
- Similarly, I mixed a bit of Berry Burst ink and added the darker color to the Floral Centers and along the Flower Petals. This became a little bit streaky.
- The Greenery was colored with the Light Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends Marker.
Cross Strip: (2¾” x ⅜”) Berry Burst cardstock scrap.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch. I will need to experiment further with the technique of water coloring with Wink of Stella® Clear Glitter.

A soft and pretty thinking of you card suitable for many occasions.
