Beside Me – Always There

Welcome back!  It’s Saturday!!  Hope you have creative plans on your schedule.

Today’s card incorporates the Festive Friday (#152) Family Day theme and the Creative Colours (#126) suggestion.  Along for the ride, I selected various embossing folders for Can You Handle the Pressure (#48) and bringing it all together, the Tuesday Morning (#742) sketch.

Here is the result:

BESIDE ME – FF0152 – CCC126 – CYHTP48 – TMS742

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Crumb Cake cardstock.
  • Background Strips: (1⅝” x 5”) Night of Navy cardstock scrap; (1⅛” x 5”) Tangerine Tango cardstock scrap that was in my bin; and (⅝” x 5″) Garden Green cardstock scrap.
    • The Strips were dry-embossed.  Night of Navy – Cross Hatch Basics 3D Embossing Folder (On-Line Exclusive); Tangerine Tango – Timber 3D Embossing Folder; and Garden Green – Stripes 3D Embossing Folder.
    • Little Notches were punched into the Strips with my (⅛”) Circle Hand-Held Punch.
    • Linen Thread was wrapped around each Strip.
  • Focal Image: (3½” x 2¾”) Very Vanilla cardstock scrap.
    • The Family on the Dock image from the Beside Me stamp set (currently a Free Sale-a-bration selection) was inked with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker eliminating the Fishing Poles.
    • The image was colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Skin– Ivory; Hair – Light Crumb Cake and Bronze; Jeans – Light and Dark Night of Navy; Kid’s T-Shirts – Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie; Dad’s T-Shirt – a blend of Light Just Jade (R), Dark Evening Evergreen (R) and Light Lemon Lolly; Dock – Light and Dark Crumb Cake and Bronze; and Shadows – Medium Soft Sky (R).
    • The image was die-cut with the (3¼” x 2⅜”) Stitched Oval die from the retired Stitched Shapes Dies set.
  • Sentiment – Very Vanilla cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, You’ve always been there for me…, from the same stamp set, Beside Me, was stamped with Night of Navy ink and then die-cut with one of the Label dies from the Something Fancy Dies set.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Focal image and the Sentiment were popped up with Dimensionals.

A nice card to celebrate your Father whether for a birthday or Father’s Day.
