My Santorini View – In the Country

Welcome back!  Happy Wednesday.  I have a busy day today with a full house for my card class, so I am getting this one in early.  Yasou!

Playing with the Inspired By (#272) photograph and sketch option.

Here is the result:

IN THE COUNTRY – IB272

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (3¾” x 5″) Balmy Blue cardstock.
  • Bottom Panel Overlay: (3¾” x 2”) White Center Specialty Paper in Azure Afternoon dry-embossed with the Quatrefoil Tile Embossing Folder.
    • Using a Buffing Block from my manicure set, I lightly buffed the raised embossed pattern to expose the white center.
  • Focal Panel – Aegean Scene: (2¾” x 3¾”) Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.
    • The Stone Steps & Door image from the retired In the Country stamp set was stamped with Stazon Timber Brown ink, that is in my collection, because it is waterproof.
    • Using a few watercolor techniques: Wet on Wet to Dry on Dry, the scene was water-colored with both the Fine-Tipped and Medium-Tipped Water Painter Brushes.
    • Colors selected: Sky – Balmy Blue Wash; Brick Work – Smoky Slate Wash; Stone Shading – Gray Granite; Doors, Water Catch Basin and Plant Pots – Azure Afternoon; Greenery – Granny Apple Green; and Bougainvillea – Melon Mambo.
    • The painting was trimmed to (2⅝” x 3⅝”).

All elements were arranged to resemble the sketch.  The Painting was popped up with Dimensionals.  I chose to not add a sentiment leaving the card blank so it could be used for any occasion.

Visiting the Greek Isles was a delightful vacation.  All the bright blues and blinkering white washed surfaces and tumbles of luscious plants and flowers.  Breathtaking!

Thanks for spending some more of your time with me today.   Cheers,  Jolanda!
