Dear Friend – Winter Deer

Welcome back!  It has been a minute.  I have had a busy first week of the new year, but I am catching up today.

Firstly, I am creating a card for the Facebook Case-ing Tuesday challenge (#441).  The last sample card from the September – December Mini Catalog found on page 73.  I flipped it to the horizontal position to better accommodate my idea.

I was influenced by TGIF (#453) for a Winter Animal and selected colors from Sunday Stamps (#325) entitled Winter Warmth.  I am also sharing this card with The Male Room (#182) for a Masculine card featuring a Pun and Critter Crazy (#82) as the focus are the two Deer.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Night of Navy cardstock.
• Under Panel: (3” x 4”) Wild Wheat Striped patterned piece of paper from the Garden Walk Designer Series Paper pack.
• Upper Panel – Focal Scene: (4⅛” x 3⅛”) and (4” x 3”) Night of Navy cardstock, (4” x 3”) Basic White cardstock and Wild Wheat cardstock scraps.
  • Using Blending Brushes, the colors Wild Wheat, Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze were added to create a warm sunset.
  • The Trees and the two Deer were die-cut with dies from the Grove Dies set.
  • The cut Trees were adhered to the blended background and the Deer were added to the scene.
  • I decided to add a small border frame to neatly finish the edges of the scene.
• Sentiment Label: (1⅞” x ⅜”) Wild Wheat cardstock scrap.
  • The sentiment, dear friend, from the Phrases for All stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with Black Embossing Powder.

All that was left to do was arrange the elements and complete the card.
