Christmas Elf – No Peeking

Welcome back!  It’s Tuesday…Design Team Day…

For the Cardz 4 Guyz (#337) theme this week, Christmas Elves or Gnomes, I am at a bit of a disadvantage.  I don’t own any stamp sets with either creature.

A perusal of Pinterest yielded several ideas, and I selected a few images for inspiration and hand drew my little Christmas Elf and the Christmas Presents stack.

I selected the current Try Stampin’ On Tuesday (#636) Sketch which I flipped to better accommodate my Elf.

Here is the result:

HAND DRAWN IMAGE – ITTY BITTY CHRISTMAS – C4G337 – TSOT636

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Wild Wheat cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The sentiment, No Peeking Til Christmas!, from the retired Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set was selected and stamped with Garden Green ink.
    • The Panel was then dry-embossed with the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Cross Strip: (⅞” x 5¼”) Garden Green cardstock scrap dry-embossed with the Stripes 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Large Shape – Christmas Elf: Basic White cardstock.
    • The Elf was hand drawn with a pencil and then colored with Pencil Crayons.  From the Stampin’ Up! collection: Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso and Basic Black.  From my Faber Castel collection: Flesh Pinks, White and Soft Gray.
    • Face Details were added with my Pentel Extra Fine-Tip Liquid Gel Pen.
    • The Elf was then fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
  • Small Shape – Christmas Present Stack: Basic White cardstock.
    • The Presents were similarly colored with Pencil Crayons and fussy-cut.

The Elf, the Christmas Ornament and the Presents were popped up with Dimensionals to resemble the sketch.  Additional details re: the Ornament String and the Presents Bows were added at the end using the Gel Pen.

This little guy elf is so cute and would make a great card for a little boy.
