Holiday Ornaments

Welcome back! A rainy Sunday over here.  Just perfect for playing in the Studio.

Today, I am working with the colors suggested by The Card Concept (#201).  The inspiration photo has these beautifully colored leaves, but I didn’t get around to making a Fall card, so I tried my hand at a Christmas card.   Inspired By (#266) has these Triangle shaped Ornaments and a suggested sketch with three elements…

 So, let’s see what I came up with:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Early Espresso cardstock.
• Background Panel: (4⅛” x 5⅜”) Early Espresso cardstock dry-embossed with the retired Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.
• Shapes – Ornament Triangles: (4¼” x 5½”) Basic White cardstock.
  • The Triangle shapes were traced onto the cardstock by outlining the (1⅝” x 2⅝”) and (2⅛” x 3¼”) Triangle dies from the retired Stitched Triangles Dies set with a pencil.
  • Holiday sentiments from a variety of current and retired stamp sets were stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder into the penciled Triangles for a collage effect.
  • Using Blending Brushes, Poppy Parade, Crushed Curry and Berry Burst inks were added to the penciled Triangles.
  • The excess ink was polished off of the White Embossing Powder with a tissue.
  • The Triangle Ornaments were die-cut with the same two Stitched Triangle dies.

The Ornaments were adhered to the Background Panel and affixed to the card base to resemble the sketch with the Ornaments staggered.  Small Bows were created using the Gold Simply Elegant Trim.

A colorful clean and simple card design for a fun Christmas card.  Happy Holidays!
