Poinsettia Greetings

Welcome back!  I have a lovely Christmas card for you today.

I am CASEING a card created by Ann Alexander, Design Team Member, for the Global Design Project (#420) challenge and selected this week’s colors suggested by Paper Players (#666).

Instead of Posies, I elected to use Poinsettias.  One of my favorite Poinsettia images comes from the retired Reason for the Season stamp set so, that was what I chose to use.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Shaded Spruce cardstock.
• Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Gold and White cut piece of the card base from the Brushed Gold Cards & Envelopes pack.
• Decorative Foliage: Shaded Spruce and Gold Foil cardstock die-cut with two of the Leafy dies from the Magical Meadow Dies set.
• Decorative Poinsettia: Basic White cardstock.
  • The Poinsettia image was stamped four (4) times with Versamark ink and heat-set with Gold Embossing Powder.
  • The Poinsettias were colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Light and Dark Real Red, Light Shaded Spruce, and Light Wild Wheat.
  • All images were fussy-cut with Paper Snips for a close edge. Two Poinsettias were trimmed for the pop-up centers.
• Sentiment Label: (3½” x ¾) Basic White cardstock.
  • The sentiment, Season’s Greetings, from the Brightest Glow stamp set was also stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with Gold Embossing Powder.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble Ann’s original card layout.  The Poinsettias and the Greeting were popped up with Dimensionals and a few Iridescent Gold Dots from my stash were added for a bit of Holiday bling.   

Christmas is often defined by Red, Green and the sparkle of Gold. So very, very festive!
