One Horse Open Sleigh – Merry Christmas

Welcome back!  It’s Tuesday…Design Team Day…I was able to combine all three challenges. 

I love when ideas come together that will work for each of them.  Cardz 4 Guyz (#335) is looking for a Winter Scene, Hand Stamped Sentiments (#427) has the colors, and Facebook’s Case-ing Tuesday (#434) has selected the Slim Line card on page 28 of the Sep-Dec Mini Catalog for this week’s sketch.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (7” x 6” scored at 3½”) Berry Burst cardstock.
• Background Panel: (6” x 3”) Mossy Meadow Dotted patterned piece of paper from the retired 2022/2023 Neutrals Collection Designer Series Paper pack.
• Focal Block – Winter Scene: (5¼” x 2”) Pool Party cardstock and three (6” x 2”) pieces of Fluid 100 Watercolor paper.
  • I selected the retired Sleigh Ride Edgelits Dies to create the base of my scene.
  • With the Fine-Tipped Water Painter Brush, I added color to the three die-cuts.  Mossy Meadow ink for the Trees, Pebbled Path ink for the Buildings, and Berry Burst, Mossy Meadow and Pebbled Path inks for the Sleigh, Reins and Horse.
  • A light wash of Balmy Blue ink was added to the top edge of the die-cuts for Snow.
  • The sentiment, Merry Christmas, from the retired Merry Patterns stamp set was stamped with Pebbled Path ink.
  • All three die-cuts were trimmed up and adhered to the Pool Party base block.

A little glue, a little bit of layering and the card is complete.
