Joy of Noel – Holiday Card

Welcome back!  Friday already…where does the time go?

Back to the Christmas cards.  Today I am playing with these challenges: As You See It (#311) for their Holiday Recipe of ingredients; Tic Tac Toe (#233) for a line of the board; the colors suggested by Facebook Colour INKSspiration (#154); and bringing it all together with the Global Design Project (#418) sketch.  Let’s play!

Here is the result:

JOY OF NOEL BUNDLE – FRAMED & FESTIVE – AYSI311 – TTTC233 – CI154 – GDP418

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Accent Mat: (4⅛” x 5⅜”) Berry Burst cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Pool Party and White patterned piece of paper from the retired Dream a Daydream Designer Series Paper pack dry-embossed with the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Background Stripes: Natural Wavy Trim.
  • Circle Shape – Wreath: Basic White cardstock scraps.
    • The Holly Spray image from the Joy of Noel stamp set was stamped three times and colored with Stampin’ Blend Markers.  Colors chosen: Berries – Dark Poppy Parade, Leaves – Dark Crumb Cake, Holly Leaves – Dark Pool Party and Greenery – Light Berry Burst.
    • The Holly Spray(s) were die-cut with the coordinating die from the Joy of Noel Dies set.
  • Sentiment Circle: (2¼” x 2¼”) Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • Part of the sentiment, Peace & Joy, from one of the sentiment stamps from the retired Framed & Festive stamp set was inked with the Poppy Parade Stampin’ Write Marker and then stamped.
    • The phrase was then die-cut with the Scalloped Circle die from the All That Dies set.
    • Using a Sponge Dauber, Pool Party ink was added to the edge of the Scalloped Circle.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  Both the Wreath and the Sentiment were popped up with Dimensionals.

Another unconventional color combination for a holiday card but it works and I like it.  Do you?  Let me know what you think in the comments.  Always happy to read your feedback.

  1. Another beauty, Jolanda, and what a great use of that trim! I was stumped by that one, and it looks perfect here! Love the fun colors, too – I am clearing getting left behind on the “emboss your DSP” trail – I never do it, and it’s amazing! Thanks so much for playing at As You See It!

  2. Embossing DSP really makes a difference, doesn’t it. I like the way you’ve incorporated all the ingredients of our recipe into a super Christmas card and I like the summery colours you’ve used. Thanks for playing along with us again at As You See It – it’s always a pleasure to have you join us. 🙂

  3. Great job, Jolanda, with incorporating all the elements of the recipe into your design, and also meeting the requirements of 4 challenges while you were at it! That takes a certain kind of genius, especially when the card turns out so beautifully! I love the subtlety of embossing your DSP! Thanks for cooking up our recipe at As You See It Challenges!
