Petite Pansies – Birthday Wishes

It’s Monday!  It’s a Holiday day – Labor Day…no rest for the wicked.  Although we do have some plans for later in the day.

A favorite challenge of mine is CAS Colours & Sketches.  If a month has a fifth week, the team throws out a retro sketch and selects some lovely retired colors.  This time it is Mellow Moss, Pale Plum and Perfect Plum.  It is always fun to root around for the Ink Pads and/or cardstock scraps in my stash bins. 

So, I have combined CAS Colours & Sketches (#519) with AAA Cards (#248) by adding a truncated Tag as my shape.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • The sentiment, Birthday Wishes, from the pretty retired Petite Pansies stamp set was stamped with Perfect Plum ink.
• Truncated Tag Accent Mat: (2½” x 2⅞”) Pale Plum cardstock scrap die-cut with one of the Octagonal dies from the Countryside Corners Dies set.
• Truncated Tag Focal Image: (2¼” x 2½”) Basic White cardstock.
  • The Pansy image was stamped with Mellow Moss ink.The Pansies were colored using a Blender Pen with ink picked up from all three Ink Pad Lids for a soft watercolor effect.
  • The Pansies were die-cut with the next sized down Countryside Corner die.

The Tag was added to the edge of the card base to resemble the sketch.

A soft and pretty clean and simple birthday card.
