The Quotable Woman – Birthday Card

Welcome back!  Happy Saturday.  I have a fun card for you today.

Over at Seize the Birthday (#266), we are challenged to be inspired by a book.  What can be more inspiring than a book of quotes?  And who no less inspiring than Katherine Hepburn.

Based on the quote chosen, I selected to create a simple version of a Mixed Media collage for the Facebook Joy of Sets (July) using a Stencil for Inkspirational (#295) and selecting the Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper as it sports the colors suggested by Color Dare (#559).

Here is the result:

FASHION FORWARD – WANTED TO SAY DIES -MASTERFULLY MADE DSP – STB266 – JOS July 2023 – ICB295 – CD559

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Left-Side Panel: (4” x 5½”) Mostly Bubble Bath colored torn collage patterned piece of paper.
  • Right-Side Bottom Panel: (3” x 4”) 3D Floral collage patterned piece of paper cut on the diagonal.
  • Right-Side Top Panel: (3” x 4”) Berry Burst torn collage patterned piece of paper.
    • Shimmery White Embossing Paste was mixed with two drops of Bubble Bath Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill and mixed with one of the Palette Knives on a Silicone Craft Sheet and applied to the Floral mask from the retired Butterflies & Flowers Layering Decorative Masks set.
    • The panel was set aside to dry.  Once dry, the panel was cut on the diagonal.
  • Decoration – Our Girl: Basic White cardstock scrap and Mini Floral patterned piece of paper.
    • The Girl with the Mini-Dress image from the Fashion Forward stamp set (Diana Wakely – Ranger) was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors selected: Skin – Light Petal Pink and Ivory; Hair and Shoes – Bronze.
    • The Dress section of the stamp was inked with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker and stamped directly to the patterned paper.
    • The Dress was fussy-cut with Paper Snips as was the Girl.  The Dress was paper-pieced in place.
  • Quote: Basic White cardstock.
    • The selected quote was printed onto a sheet of cardstock via the computer and fussy-cut.  Each section was edged with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.
    • The signature, Katherine Hepburn, was done by hand and treated the same way as the quote.
  • Sentiment: Basic Black and Lemon-Lime Twist cardstock scraps.
    • The Happy Birthday dies from the Wanted To Say Dies set were selected.
    • The Basic Black cardstock piece (3½” x 1½”) was pre-adhered to a same sized piece of an Adhesive Sheet to make a sticker prior to die-cutting.
    • The Words were adhered to the Lemon-Lime Twist Outline die-cut.

All elements were adhered in place to create a Mixed Media feel to the card.

I am also sharing this card with Color Throwdown (#753).
