Moon Lake – On The Water

On The Water…lots of possibilities.  I went in a serene direction and chose the delightful, retired stamp set Moon Lake.

My choices were influenced by a few other challenges: AAA Cards (#245) for a masculine monochromatic color scheme; selecting the color trio from Color Dare (#557) and opting for the current Just Add Ink (#662) sketch.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
• Accent Mat: (3⅞” x 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
• Focal Panel: (3¾” x 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • The Mallard image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
  • The Bird was stamped again onto Masking Paper and fussy cut with Paper Snips.
  • The original stamped Mallard image was masked and Azure Afternoon (for Bluebird) and Balmy Blue (for Periwinkle) inks were added to the water and the sky respectively with Blending Brushes.
  • The Bird mask was removed, and the Mallard and Cattails were colored with retired Light and Medium Coastal Cabana (for Lagoon) Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers.
  • A touch of Daffodil Delight was added to the Mallard’s Bill.
• Sentiment Label and Accent: (2½” x ½”) Basic White and Basic Black cardstock scraps.
  • The sentiment, A Card to Say Hello, from the Sending Smiles stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch for very clean and simple card. The monochromatic color scheme works really nicely for this image.
