Gorgeous Garden Rose – Hello

Are you a fan of color?  If so, you must check out the Facebook Color INKspiration challenges.  Something always exciting over there.

I have the pleasure of being a guest designer for Colour INKSpiration Challenge #146.  Take a look at those Lucious colors!

I chose to do a wet-on-wet watercolor treatment to create depth and beauty for my Hello card.

ARTISTICALLY INKED – GORGEOUS GARDEN DIES – CI-146

These are the steps I followed:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Granny Apple Green cardstock.
  • Watercolor Leaf Layer: (4½” x 6”) Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper
    • The piece of watercolor paper was adhered to my Silicone Mat with Painter’s Tape.
    • Several Granny Apple Green Watercolor Washes were applied to the paper with the Wide-Tipped Water Painter Brush using color from the Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill bottle and a Paint Palette Dish with lots of water.
    • To speed up the process, each wash was dried using the Heat Tool.
    • Once completed and dried, the panel was die-cut with the Leaf Patterned die from the Gorgeous Garden Dies set.
  • Leaf Layer Backing: (5½” x 4¼”) Pretty Peacock cardstock.
    • Adhesive was added to the back of the Leaves and the cardstock panel was added.
    • The panel was then trimmed to (3⅞” x 5⅛”) and added to the card base.
  • Focal Image – Layered Flower: Fluid 100 Watercolor paper off cuts.
    • Again, the paper was wet with the paint brush, and both the large and small Floral images from the Artistically Inked stamp set were stamped with Blackberry Bliss and Berry Burst inks respectively and allowed to feather.  As needed, some of the floral pieces were sprayed with water that was added to a Stampin’ Spritzer bottle.
    • The Flowers were both die-cut with the coordinating Artistic Dies and/or fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
    • The Floral Layers were adhered with the top one popped up with Dimensionals.
  • Sentiment Banner: Fluid 100 Watercolor paper off cut.
    • The greeting, hello, also from the Artistically Inked stamp set was stamped with Pretty Peacock ink and die-cut with the (1¾” x 1⅛”) Banner die from the Nested Essentials Dies set.
