Earthen Textures – Appreciated and Celebrated

Tuesday!  Design Team Challenges for Cardz 4 Guyz (#323) and Facebook Case-ing Tuesdays (#410) showcasing the wonderful Earthen Textures Stamp Set and Dies Bundle.  I chose a vertical or portrait style card to better suit my choices.

Inspiration for the card design came from: Double Trouble (#139) partnering with Festive Friday (#135) and choosing the colors from the Color Dare (#549) Tic Tac Toe Board.

Here is the result:

EARTHEN TEXTURES BUNDLE – INSPIRED THOUGHTS – C4G323 – CT410 – DT139 – FF0135 – CD549

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Soft Succulent cardstock (for Rosemary) now a retired color from my stash.  I could have selected Lost Lagoon but then I would have had to open a new package of paper…
    • Using the Large Texture Pot image, the side edges of the card front were stamped with retired Soft Succulent ink, overlapping as I went.
  • Cross Strip Panel: (3¼” x 5½”) Pretty Peacock cardstock (for Harbour).
    • Using the Cross-Hatch Stencil from the now retired Loveliest Layers Decorative Masks pack secured with strips of Masking Paper, I created a Plaid type Check Pattern using a Sponge Dauber and Pretty Peacock ink.
  • Background Panel: (3½” x 3”) Cajun Craze cardstock (for Paprika).
    • The sentiment, Remembered, Appreciated and Celebrated, from the retired Inspired Thoughts stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.  I chose this sentiment because I thought it would work well as a Father’s Day type greeting.
    • Using another Sponger Dauber, Cajun Craze ink was applied to the edges of the Panel.
  • Decorative Trim: Pretty Peacock cardstock scrap die-cut with the Double X die from the coordinating die set.
  • Focal Image – Earthen Pot and Fronds: Cajun Craze and Pecan Pie cardstock scraps.
    • The Basket Weave Pot image was stamped with Cajun Craze ink and die-cut with the coordinating die.
    • The Jug Handle was die-cut and then stamped with Cajun Craze ink using the Large Texture Pot stamp again.
    • Both the Handles and the Pot were sponged with additional Cajun Craze ink for definition.
    • In lieu of actual Brads, I added three Brushed Metallic Copper Dots to the Pot Jug Handle.
    • Two Fronds were die-cut in the complimentary Pecan Pie color.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the flipped sketch.  The Pot was popped up with Dimensionals.  I really like the depth and texture that I managed to create with these colors.
