Batik Boutique – Happy Birthday

Hello and Happy Day!  Quick card for you today featuring the Batik Boutique stamp set.…

Over at CAS Colours & Sketches (#448), there is a double challenge.  Some favorite retired colors, Delightful Dijon, Raspberry Ripple and Midnight Muse along with a sketch. 

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
• Background Panel (4” x 5¼”) made up of three parts.
  • Top: (5¼” x 1¼”) Basic White cardstock.  The Open Circle image was stamped repeatedly with Delightful Dijon ink.
  • Middle: (5¼” x ¾”) Basic White cardstock.  The Leaf image was stamped in Versamark ink and heat-set with Clear Embossing Powder.  The strip was then colored with Raspberry Ripple ink and a Blending Brush.
  • Bottom: (5¼” x 2⅛”) Basic White cardstock.  The Batik Floral shapes were die-cut from the strip using the coordinating Batik Dies set.  Midnight Muse ink was added to this strip with a Blending Brush.
    • The two smaller Floral images were stamped with Midnight Muse ink on to scraps of Basic White and fitted in behind the openings in the strip.
    • The larger Floral image was also stamped on to a scrap of Basic White with Midnight Muse ink and then colored with the same ink with the Blending Brush.  The piece was fitted in behind the opening.  The White Floral Frame created with the original die-cut was added into the opening.
  • All three strips were dry-embossed twice in a cross-hatch pattern using the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.  My aim was to create the illusion of fabric, much like Batik Patterned Bandanas.
• Sentiment Banner: (3¼” x 1”) Basic White cardstock.  Using the retired Bunch of Banners Framelits die as a guide, I bent the photopolymer Happy Birthday sentiment from the Art Gallery stamp set to fit the curved shape of the die and stamped the sentiment with Delightful Dijon ink.  I then die-cut the Banner.  I drew in the Banner Lines and edged the banner with the same colored Stampin’ Write Marker.  The Banner was then colored with the same ink and a Blending Brush.  Keeping the same fabric theme, the Banner was also dry-embossed with the same embossing folder.

I then put the card together to resemble the sketch.  The sentiment banner was popped up with Dimensionals and added to the card.

Isn’t it fun to pull out something old and mix it with something new?  I had fun creating this card.
