Rooted in Nature – Father’s Day

I wanted to create a card for the current Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #313 and the deadline is today.  The theme:  Masculine.  Always a challenge to create cards for men.  For most, pinks and purples just doesn’t cut it!

I chose the layout from the current Paper Craft Crew Challenge – PCC422 and since I used Designer Series Paper, I thought I would share this card over at the Stampin’ Up! Only Challenge #273.

And this is the result:

ROOTED IN NATURE – BEST YEAR – PEACEFUL BOUGHS – WWC313 – PCC422 – SUOC273

One of my favorite stamp sets, Rooted in Nature is retiring and I just needed to use it.

For the circle and square elements, I stamped the Cross Wood Section image in Soft Suede ink on to a (3⅛”) square of one of the light wood patterns from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.

For the background panel (4½” x 3⅝”), I selected a darker wood pattern from the same Designer Series Paper.  The sentiment, Happy Father’s Day!, from the Best Year stamp set was stamped in Versamark ink in the lower left corner and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.

For the suggested shape, I selected to stamp the Single Tree image on to a Basic White scrap of cardstock.  The stamp was inked in two colors by using the Shaded Spruce and Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Markers.  The image was die-cut using the coordinating Nature’s Roots Die.  To tone down the brightness of the Basic White outline remaining, I used Stampin’ Blends.  Light Soft Seafoam around the Branches and Crumb Cake around the Tree Trunk

For the card base (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”), I selected Sahara Sand. The flat cardstock felt a bit bare, and the suggested layout shows some splotches.  For this element, I chose to cut another Sahara Sand panel (5⅜” x 4⅛”).  The panel was dry-embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder for some added texture and then I lightly stamped the small Pine Bough image from the Peaceful Boughs stamp set in Shaded Spruce ink along the left edge.

To complete the card, I added three Cinnamon Cider in-Color Enamels Dots and a Wooden Leaf from the In Good Taste Elements.

Definitely masculine colors.  Any sentiment could be added and I chose to make this a Father’s Day Card.  I am very happy that the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper will continue to be available through the 2021/2022 Stampin’ Up! year.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!
