Bright Butterfly

Having a little fun using Plaid.  This week’s TGIF Challenge – TGIFC301 is “Mad for Plaid”.

How to be creative without actually using a plaid stamp or plaid patterned paper?  I decided to get out my Simply Scored Scoring Tool and see if I could make my own plaid pattern.

This is what I came up with…

BUTTERFLY BEAUTY DIES – PRETTY PARASOL – SIMPLY SCORED – TGIFC301

On the reverse side of the Basic White cardstock, I mapped out my scoring pattern with a ruler and pencil.  I then scored the panel following the pattern lines.

Originally, I created a scored border to fit the Stitched Nested Label Die shape.  I wanted to use a Basic White label but the white-on-white felt a little staid.  Especially with the Rainbow Glimmer Specialty Designer Series Paper die-cut Butterflies form the Butterfly Beauty Die Set.

I had already selected Bermuda Bay for the card base and Mango Melody for the panel mat.  That little something that was needed was a mat for the label.  Essentially covering up the scored label shape. I settled on two more labels die-cut in Gorgeous Grape.  I really like how the mat makes the label pop and helps tie all the colors to the Butterflies.

The sentiment, You Make the Day Brighter, from the Pretty Parasol stamp set in Gorgeous Grape goes so well with the images. For a bit of bling, I added some colored Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

This is a lovely little card with a very subtle use of the plaid motif.  What do you think? Do you like it?
